I’ve been developing websites and web applications since 2005 and have since fallen in love with Ruby on Rails and Wordpress development as well as configuring and running my own web servers.
By day I’m the lead developer of Internet and desktop application development at Automated Graphic Systems. By night I’m a husband, singer/songwriter, homeowner and entrepreneur.
I taught myself to code by googling. I tried learning more at college but they were just teaching out dated practices. That and I couldn’t wrap my head around Java at the time. Well, I still can’t.
I drive a stock white 1996 Ford Ranger which was gifted to me from my sister and brother-in-law and came with no air conditioning. It’s adorned with a bumper sticker that says “I [heart] Elvis” (I added that one) and has a horse’s saddle hanging from the rear view mirror which was also a gift from a cowboy I met while serving a two year mission for my church in south Texas.
I have all 10 seasons of “Friends” on DVD and will have sporadic marathons throughout the year with the mrs. but will only watch up to the middle of season 10. I missed the 9th and 10th seasons while I was in Texas and can’t bring myself to finishing the series. (I have seen the last episode, however).
My wife and I plan on having kids and will be naming them after Beatles songs.
I want a dog and my wife wants a goat so I think we’ll just compromise and get an ewok.
Chipotle is my achilles heal.
I am an Apple Fanboy but not the annoying kind. Is this possible?
I bike to work. Not because it’s friendly to the environment but because it’s friendly to my weight and wallet. Although, the ride is more enjoyable knowing I’m doing my part to help out.
MacBreak Weekly is my favorite podcast. Andy Ihnatko is my favorite journalist and Merlin Mann is my favorite speaker. Leo Laporte is my favorite voice but that’s only because Jim Dale doesn’t have a podcast.
I listen to the Harry Potter books over and over because I haven’t found a better audiobook that is brought to life the way Jim Dale brings Harry Potter to life.
I secretly want to write a musical.
I don’t want skateboarding to be “something I used to do” anymore.
I’m getting rid of my iPhone because I haven’t touched it since getting an iPad and I can’t afford the monthly bill.
I love my wife enough to let her keep her iPhone.
I love the internet and the endless possibilities it brings.
